How Did We Get Here?
The Luckiest Foundation was formed in honor of the late Deborah McBride. Deborah was born in Washington DC, in 1978. She grew up in Rochester, NY and went on to receive her degree in History and Political Science from what is now the Joe Biden School of Public Policy at the University of Delaware.
When Deb passed away from Glioblastoma on March 18th of 2024, she left behind a career as a Vice President of Communications at A +E Networks. Deb supported a media family which included A&E, Lifetime, Vice, and The History Channel. She also spent years working for Turner Broadcasting and supported TBS, TNT and CNN.

To properly honor Deb's life and legacy, and show her three children that her life spent here was purposeful, we have created the Deborah McBride Scholarship.
This scholarship is designed to promote the student who is beginning to understand the impact of historical context in the shaping of our Nation. We are looking for students who are actively pursuing a life in History, Public Policy, and Communication with a progressive, informed, empathetic, and inclusive viewpoint, and an understanding of how these three components are intrinsically tied, through data.

We will provide one student, each year, with a $10,000 scholarship to help with their pursuit of this goal.

Our Vision
Our vision is to honor Deborah McBride through a legacy of students who are informed and educated, devoid of populism and rooted in kindness. We see a future of a Nation that forms and institutes policy based in the collection of historical context. We seek individuals whose aim is to apply data and information, to help form and support a changing, evolving society.
